OFFICIALLY THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM
LANGUAGE - VIETNAMESE

DON'T MISS - HALONG BAY AND THE HAI VAN PASS
I rode from Hue to Hoi An down the Hai Van Pass with Le Family Riders and highly recommend it as a way to get to or from Hoi An. Read about my experience here. Ha Long Bay, further north, was also an epic check on my bucket list. Click here to learn more about this beautiful destination.
MUST EAT (OTHER THAN EVERYTHING) - BAHN MI!
If you're interested in learning to make Vietnamese food, check out Green Bamboo Cooking School in Hoi An - (Not planning to visit Hoi An? Well... you should... because it's well worth the trip).

AU CO LUXURY CRUISE - BHAYA
In 2018 I returned to HaLong Bay aboard the Au Co, and let’s just say I was not disappointed.
Bhaya Cruise itineraries steer clear of over-trafficked areas of the bay. By cruising with them, you’ll have a better experience (and support a company that is leading the way in sustainable tourism in HaLong Bay).

HALONG GINGER HOMESTAY
If you're planning a trip to Vietnam, chances are a HaLong Bay Cruise is high on your list. Most people go straight from Hanoi to their cruise, but, I highly recommend staying at least one night in the mainland beforehand.
Skip the fancy hotels and resorts, save a few bucks, and book a stay here instead... the coziest (and most instagramable) little homestay!

VIETNAM BACKPACKERS HOSTEL - HOI AN
If you want to meet new people, this hostel is perfect. They had lots of events and activities on, so, even though I stayed in a private room, I still made lots of new friends.
When I stayed here in 2017, the property had just opened… which is always either a really good thing or a really bad thing. Between my friends and I, we experienced a bit of both… but let’s start with the good.
