LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO STAY IN KUALA LUMPUR?

Look no further than the DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

It is conveniently located just five minutes away from the nearest metro station, and a 10 minute walk away from the city’s famous Petronas Towers.

The DoubleTree by Hilton KL offers its guests countless amenities and perks, but my personal favorite is the warm cookie they greet you with upon check-in… and this dessert tray wasn’t half bad either.

There are several room options ranging from basic twin bed guest rooms to king bed terrace suites, but honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of them! I stayed in a twin bed deluxe room, and had everything I needed.

In addition to its many other features and services, the DoubleTree by Hilton KL also offers its guests a delicious complimentary breakfast and boasts five in-house bars and restaurants.

Conveniently located in the heart of the city, the Double Tree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur is a five minute walk away from the nearest metro station (Ampang Station), and about a 10 minute walk away from the city’s famous Petronas Twin Towers.

Its warm, welcoming staff, prime location, property features, and other luxurious amenities made it the best place to end my 2018 Asia adventure, and the perfect home away from home in Kuala Lumpur.

HOTEL FEATURES

This was my second time staying at a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Malaysia, and I can now confidently say that this chain (in Malaysia at least) has a lot to offer its guests. For starters, guests are greeted at check-in with a warm cookie, and it doesn’t get much better than that.

Here are some other things that make the DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur unique.

RESTAURANTS AND BARS

With five different restaurants and bars to choose from, you will have absolutely no issue finding somewhere to eat during your stay here. However, if it just so happens that none of the soon to be mentioned in-hotel options strike your fancy, fear not, because the Double Tree KL is located inside a mall!

Whether you dine at the hotel or in the mall, there are loads of delicious cafes, restaurants, convenience stores, and fast food chains where you can grab a quick bite - (not to mention tons of stores in the mall where you can shop til ya drop).

MAKAN KITCHEN

Makan Kitchen is where I had most of my meals during my stay here.

The restaurant serves up a delicious and diverse breakfast buffet everyday from 6am, and also have lunch and dinner dining hours.

On my last evening in Kuala Lumpur, I was treated to an incredible feast, courtesy of the Makan Kitchen team, where I had the opportunity to try everything from Penang White Curry Noodles and Sashimi to Balado Merah and various types of Naan.

My favorite dish I had was hands down the Claypot Seafood dish. Yum. By the end of the 12 course meal, I just about needed someone to roll me back to my room.

Even if you’re not a guest of the hotel, Makan Kitchen offers a culinary experience that you won’t want to miss. Whether it’s an old favorite or a new local dish, even the most picky eaters will find something they can enjoy.

AXIS LOUNGE

Located just past the hotel’s lobby, the Axis Lounge is a great, open place to get some work done, grab a happy hour cocktail or two, or just relax.

CELLAR DOOR

Though I enjoyed the Axis Lounge, I favored the Cellar Door a bit more. Like the Axis Lounge, the Cellar Door also offers happy hour specials, but in a more cozy and intimate environment.

TOSCA

Tosca is the DoubleTree’s in-house Italian restaurant. It offers both indoor and outdoor seating by the pool with great views of the nearby Petronas Towers. Sadly, I never had the chance to eat here because I was too busy stuffing my face at Makan Kitchen, but I was a big fan of the restaurant’s laid back atmosphere and contemporary design.

THE FOOD STORE

The Food Store, located just past the Axis Lounge, is less of a restaurant, and more of a little cafe where you can grab a quick coffee or snack.

Hours: Everyday from 8am - 8pm

24 HOUR ROOM SERVICE

As if its five in-house restaurants aren’t enough, you can also order food and beverages from the DoubleTree by Hilton KL’s extensive room service menu 24 hours a day.

SALTWATER POOL & 24 HOUR FITNESS CENTER

SO - Now that we’ve been over the plethora of dining choices you have at the DoubleTree KL, you may want to learn about their exercise facilities… Or, maybe not… Anyways, if you do need somewhere to burn off some of the many calories you’ll likely consume, you can head to their beautiful outdoor salt water pool or fully-equipped 24 hour fitness center.

Unfortunately, I was too busy eating to take advantage of either of these, but they both looked really nice. Maybe next time.

ROOM TYPES

GUEST ROOMS

Each guest room is 32 square meters with all of the necessities - waterfall shower, marble bathroom, 32 inch flat screen TV, and, my personal favorite - the bathrobes. Other amenities like a desk area, couch space, a coffeemaker and plenty of universal outlets and charging ports make this a great space to unwind after a day of exploring the city, or an ideal spot to get some work done.

Choose from 4 basic guest room types - the king bed deluxe, two twin beds deluxe, king bed guest room, or the two twin beds guest room. I stayed in the two twin beds deluxe room, which offered fantastic views over the city, and had everything I needed.

EXECUTIVE ROOMS

By booking an executive room, guests are granted access to the executive lounge where they can enjoy breakfast, all day refreshments, complimentary drinks and snacks each evening, and great views of the Petronas Towers. You can choose from two types of executive rooms - the king bed executive and twin beds executive. Though these rooms are the same size as the aforementioned guest bed rooms, their location on a higher floor of the building offers guests even better views.

SUITES

Want a bit more room for you and your travel companions? Booking a suite may be the right choice for you. These suites are undoubtedly the nicest rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton KL, and also include guest access for the Executive Lounge.

There are three different suites to choose from - the king bed deluxe suite, king bed executive suite, or the king bed terrace suite. They each offer ample seating space with their separate living area and a bathtub in addition to the waterfall shower in the bathroom.

The main difference between the suites is their size with each measuring 50, 62, and 111 square meters respectively. These suites are undoubtedly the nicest rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton KL, and also include guest access for the Executive Lounge.

If you’re planning to just relax enjoy the hotel during your stay in Kuala Lumpur, you may want to consider splurging on the king bed terrace suite. This is the largest room on the highest floor of the hotel, and offers a beautiful view of the Petronas Towers from its private outdoor terrace.

GETTING THERE

BY CAR OR TAXI

Book an airport transfer ahead of time, grab a taxi at the airport, or save a few bucks by catching an Uber.

BY METRO

This is the fastest and most affordable way to get to the DoubleTree by Hilton KL, as Kuala Lumpur’s metro system is extremely fast, efficient, and safe.

From the airport, just catch the airport express train to KL Sentral Station which should take about half an hour. Then, transfer to the Red Line and catch the Rapid KL LRT train to Ampang Park Station. Once there, exit the station and walk under the covered overpass to the building across the street - This is the mall in which the DoubleTree KL is located.

BOOKING

The DoubleTree by Hilton KL was a great home base for my visit to Kuala Lumpur. They had all of the amenities I needed, the comfiest beds, delicious in house restaurants, and were in such a convenient location. What made the experience even better was their amazing staff who not only made me feel welcome during my stay, but also gave me fantastic tips and recommendations for my adventures around the city.

I was a guest of the DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur, but all thoughts & opinions are my own.
